About Major In Physics in Northwestern University

Physics 140-1/2/3 (Fall/Winter/Spring) is intended for prospective physics majors and minors, and for others who want to learn physics in greater depth. Permission is required.

Physics 312 is a new course that continues the mathematical preparation for physics provided by 311-1,2. It will benefit all physics majors/minors, particularly as preparation for Physics 333-1,2. The Math 230-2 requirement for the physics major/minor will be waived for students who take Physics 312-0.

The Physics 333-1/2 (Electricity and Magnetism) sequence will now be offered each year in spring (333-1) followed by fall (333-2).  If you wish to take or are required to take both quarters, remember to take 333-1 during your junior year at the latest.
