When you’re making your choices about how you want to further your professional career, there are some differences when it comes to either choosing an MS in management (an MSM) or choosing an accredited online MBA program instead. Ultimately, everyone will make the best choice for themselves, but for some, choosing an MSM degree instead of MBA management makes better sense for them. Part of the reason is that the MSM program allows you to specialize in certain concentrations and develop certain skills that prepare you for certain professions, which are often in leadership roles. One of the concentrations we offer at MTSM is the business analytics management concentration, which can prepare you for various positions and offer you many other new job skills.
Someone pursuant to their MSM degree online who may be interested in business analytics would be thinking about a career perhaps in decision-making roles, such as performance analysis. You may see someone with a history in business analytics, deciding on business decisions in organizations regarding spending factors, budgeting, and other vital factors to the company. While you would have somewhat of a financial background, your concentration would be analyzing and statistical analysis.
Anyone who has an undergraduate degree and who is interested in analytics may be a good fit. However, many of our students at NJIT who are enrolled in our MSM program in the business analytics concentration have undergraduate degrees in engineering, science, and information technology. This program bridges the gap between technology and management. It provides you the skills you will need to possess a managerial role in your future company while having the analytical skills to make the best decisions.
The business analytics program is data-driven, so any job that requires a graduate-level degree and data knowledge is a possibility. Some of these professions may include careers as business analysts, where you are studying markets, and careers in research and development. Other professionals may consist of upper-level management, such as COO and CTO.
Graduate applicants are those who have completed, or are in process of completing, the equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, either in the U.S. or abroad, and are applying to a graduate or professional program of study (Master's, PhD, LLM, JD). Each graduate program establishes its own application and admission standards and deadlines, which may differ from program to program even within the same department.
