About Civil And Environmental Engineering in Loyola Marymount University
Recently named a top 22 undergraduate engineering program by U.S. News and World Report (2022), LMU's bachelor's degree in civil engineering helps students understand how to plan, design and oversee construction in both the public and private sectors.
Undergraduate students majoring in civil engineering gain hands-on experience in one of six specialized concentrations beginning early in their LMU career. Coursework in surveying, soils engineering, and environmental engineering are supplemented by additional work in ethics, economics, safety and socio-politics to form ethically-driven professionals with the technical abilities to serve their communities developing the necessary infrastructure that make our world possible, from bridges and water systems to buildings and transportation systems.
Guided by world-class faculty members, who are also leaders in their professional fields, students make use of seven state-of-the-art laboratories for undergraduate research projects and coursework. Academic and co-curricular career preparation are supplemented by professional mentoring through the Civil Engineering Council for Industry Partnerships.
