About Bachelor Of Applied Science In Information Technology (bas) in Kennesaw State University
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology (BAS) with a major in Information Technology is designed for students who have an Associate of Applied Science in computing from a member institution of the Technical College System of Georgia. The courses that you have completed for your AAS will transfer as a block, and you will be required to take an additional 67 credit hours (or approximately 2.5 years of full-time study) to obtain the BAS degree.
Students must earn an A.A.S in a computing field with a GPA of 2.3 or better from a TCSG college to transfer into the BASIT program. Admission to the BASIT program will require that a student successfully complete or transfer the equivalent of CSE1321( lecture) and CSE1321L (corresponding lab ) with a grade of 'B' or better in both.
In order to give you the flexibility you need, the courses at KSU are offered on-line, hybrid (1/2 in class and 1/2 online), and in class. If they are located away from the Marietta area, you will probably prefer to take all the courses online. All general education requirements are also offered on-line through the university system called E-core.
The primary aim of the BASIT is identical to the Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology, namely to prepare students for progressively more responsible positions in the field of Information Technology, including positions that are supervisory or managerial in nature. More specifically, as you graduate from the program, you will be able to
- apply problem solving skills, core IT concepts, best practices and standards to information technologies;
- identify and evaluate organizational requirements and current and emerging technologies;
- select, design, integrate and administer IT-based solutions into the organizational environment;
- communicate effectively, both in writing and in speaking;
