About Health Systems Management, Mha in George Mason University
The master of health administration (MHA), health systems management program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). The United States Department of Education and Council on Higher Education Accreditation have granted formal recognition to CAHME as the only organization to accredit master's level health care management programs in the United States and Canada. This master's program prepares future executives to assume leadership positions in health care organizations. We prepare health care professionals with strategic, business, analytic, and decision-making skills needed to successfully navigate the evolving health care industry.
This program prepares students to work as leaders and executive-level managers in evolving health systems, or as consultants and managers of health-related organizations. The curriculum was developed in response to the demand for advanced health management preparation for a variety of health care and allied health professionals to be employed in both the public and private sectors of health care.
Total credits: 47-51
The program of study comprises 47-51 credits grouped into two phases of study. International students whose scores on the English Language Tests are below the thresholds required by the program are required to take EAP 508 - Graduate Communication in the Disciplines III (Credits: 4) in their first semester of study and earn a grade of B (3.0) or higher. This will increase the degree requirements for these students from 47 to 51 credits.

- School of Business Graduate: 93 points, 20 points in each section
- Volgenau School of Engineering Graduate: - 80 or higher, no section minimum
- Schar School of Policy and Government PhD Programs: 100 or higher, 23 points in each section
- All other graduate programs- 88 points, minimum 20 in each section
IELTS Graduate
- School of Business Graduate: 7 overall, with a minimum of 7.0 in each subsection
- All other graduate programs- 6.5 total band score
Pearson Academic Test of English
- A minimum score of 59, all applicants
