About Fashion Design in Drexel University
With a distinguished international reputation developed over the last two decades, the Fashion Design program at Drexel educates and trains designers and visionaries, shepherding them towards creating contemporary fashion while understanding the impact of a global economy. Students in this program explore sustainable approaches to the design process, fusing art, design, science and technology to create flexible production of unique apparel.
While learning about materials and processes, marketing, and industrial production, students have access to state-of-the-art studios with cutting edge technology such as CAD patterning, 3-D virtual garment simulation and the Shima Seiki knit lab. They’ll also build an understanding of the industry at large, learning about the psychological, social, and historical contexts of fashion while assembling their own collections, put on display during the Drexel Fashion Show. A large percentage of students also take advantage of Drexel’s study abroad program, spending time in the fashion capitals of the world such as London and Florence.
