About Accounting Major, B.b.a. in Cleveland State University
Accounting is the study of the "language of business" and provides the foundation for all financial processes within an organization. It is the discipline of analyzing business data and transactions, determining the monetary effects of these transactions, preparing financial statements and reports, and acting as a business consultant to management for making effective operational and financial decisions.
WHAT CAREERS CAN THIS MAJOR PREPARE YOU FOR?
Students can choose to work in Public Accounting as auditors or tax specialists, to pursue a career in large Fortune 500 companies as cost accountants, controllers, or internal auditors; or to provide accounting services to non-profit or governmental entities. Many students go on to Master's in Accountancy or MBA Programs or to Law School and receive professional licenses in accounting including the CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CFE (Chartered Fraud Examiner).
