About Chemistry, B.s. in California State University, Fresno
The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry is intended for students who plan a career in chemistry. The B.S. is accredited by the American Chemical Society. Students who satisfactorily complete this program are recommended by the department for certification as graduate chemists by the American Chemical Society. The B.S. prepares students to enter the job market or for graduate study leading to an advanced degree, such as a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy.
Note: Chemistry majors may not take courses listed in the major or additional requirements for CR/NC grades.
The Department of Chemistry offers a Bachelor of Science degree fully accredited by the American Chemical Society, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree for those pursuing careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and other professions. Since Chemistry is the central science, we also provide undergraduate training in the fundamentals for those majoring in other science related fields and teacher training.

Academic qualification equivalents
- All college or university transcripts with English translation. High school transcript is required for lower-division applicants.
English language requirements
- TOEFL – 61 iBT, or
- IELTS – 6.0 or with 5.5 Band score in each section.
