Building Information Modelling Pg in University of Wolverhampton

The 2011 Government Construction Strategy has stated that Building Information Modelling (BIM) has to be adopted and utilised on all public projects by 2016. The aim of this course is to develop students with high-level knowledge and understanding of BIM. This new approach is strategically important for the UK and International Construction Industry and throughout the course students will not only develop a comprehension of how the tools operate, but also how these can be implemented within the business context of the Architecture and Construction sectors

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is becoming increasingly used on renovation projects and in particular significant use of BIM for the modelling and renovation of heritage buildings within the UK and abroad. Drawing on research and emerging practice in the field, this module will use a combination of theory and practical work to understand the process of implementing BIM for renovation and in particular for use in projects that include heritage-based elements. The module will include the use of advanced and emerging technologies, software tools and prevailing standards to allow a deep understanding of the specific requirements of implementing BIM on these specialist projects.
