About Midwifery in University of West of Scotland
PREPARE FOR A REWARDING CAREER AS A PROFESSIONAL MIDWIFE
There are few more rewarding careers than supporting mother and child through pregnancy, childbirth and post-partum care. Midwives work in partnership with expectant mothers to promote good health in mother and baby through education, informed decision-making and empowerment, as well as clinical support.
The BSc Midwifery course at UWS will give you the knowledge, skills, practical experience and confidence to become a professional midwife.
Our course is 50% work-based learning, so you’ll spend a significant amount of time putting what you learn in lectures into practice in a real-life clinical environment.
Upon graduation, you will achieve registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The course carries UNICEF’s UK Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation for ensuring midwifery students are equipped with knowledge and skills to advise breastfeeding mothers.
