About MA Film (editing) in University of South Wales
MA Film is a new opportunity to study film at Postgraduate level in Cardiff. The course provides a strong general grounding in the needs of the contemporary British Film and Television industry with opportunities to develop and hone key skills via multiple pathways that lead directly different career opportunities. By combining these different disciplines, students gain the opportunity to collaborate with each other, with other USW students and with industry professionals to develop their skills to a higher level.
The MA Film (Editing) pathway is designed specifically for students who wish to combine a broader education in the film & TV industry and general film making skills with specific editing and grading skills, aimed at gaining an entry-level position in the screen industry.
Applicants who are unsure as to which pathway they should apply for are encouraged to contact the course team for an informal discussion before making an application. Should you choose to apply for more than one pathway, your portfolio should demonstrate your interest and experience in each individual area and therefore more than one portfolio may be required.
Academic qualification equivalents
- A 3 year degree with an average of at least 60%
- A 4 year degree with an overall average of at least 55%
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component
- USW English test (known as the Password test) – this is a free english test that can be completed in India. Please email india@southwales.ac.uk for further details.
