About Mathematics And Philosophy Bsc in University of Sheffield
Mathematics and philosophy is a challenging, rewarding combination. Both subjects require careful, rigorous reasoning as well as imagination.
Your maths study will include core mathematics, pure mathematics, applied mathematics and probability and statistics. You can specialise later in the course.
The philosophy side of the course is flexible. There are no compulsory modules. You can develop your understanding of key areas such as ethics, philosophy of mind, theory of knowledge, political philosophy, metaphysics and logic.
We also teach courses on major figures in the history of philosophy such as Plato, Aristotle, Descartes and Hegel.

International Baccalaureate 34, 6 in Higher Level Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches)
English language requirements
You must demonstrate that your English is good enough for you to successfully complete your course. For this course we require: GCSE English Language at grade 4/C; IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component; or an alternative acceptable English language qualification
