Environmental Science Menvsci in University of Sheffield
The MEnvSci includes a year of advanced research training, giving you a masters-level qualification. It's excellent training for a PhD and a research career in government or industry. You can specialise in global change, environmental biosciences or environmental geosciences. Or you can take a more general course.
All compulsory field trips and classes are free. We also offer some scholarships for optional field classes and independent research. You will have the chance to take part in field classes in the UK, Europe, Africa and North America.
The first year includes modules in geography, earth science and biology. These modules explore the range of physical environments and ecosystems and provide the foundation for the rest of your course.
In the second and third years, you'll build on what you've learned with more specialised study of environmental science. In the third year, you'll carry out an extended research project in the lab or in the field. In the fourth year, you will join an active research group and conduct your own advanced research project.
The Department of Geography collaborates with the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences to run this course.
