This programme provides a firm foundation in Finance, Financial Economics and Empirical Finance. The MSc is specifically designed to support career entry and development in the financial sectors, government agencies and to higher education. Programme Overview

The MSc Finance has received recognition by the CFA Institute for its Affiliation Program, which is a global association of investment professionals that offers the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation. Affiliated status is granted to institutions whose degree programmes incorporate at least 70% of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK). This provides a solid grounding in the CBOK, which positions students well should they plan to sit the CFA exams. 

The CFA qualification is a globally recognised industry designation and affiliated universities are seen as a desirable postgraduate destination, offering programmes that provide a strong foundation in all aspects of finance as well as a practical knowledge of the finance sector. Recognition by the CFA Institute demonstrates the ability of the MSc Finance to align with professional practice, thereby enhancing the employability of its students.‌

The MSc is designed to support career entry and development in the financial sectors in the world financial markets, government agencies, international financial agencies and higher education, amongst others. Some of our recent graduates now work in AEG, PwC, Bank of China, and the NHS. MSc Finance graduates go on to work in a variety of roles including, Investment Manager, Financial Advisor, Consultant, Contract Manager, Assurance Auditor, Financial Analyst, Asset Management Specialist, and Accountants.

Master's Consultancy Challenge

Master's students at the Management School have the opportunity to take part in the ‘We can work it out’ master’s consultancy challenge. Students form several groups and are presented with consultancy problems from a number of organisations.

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with minimum first division (high second division from some universities).

English language requirements (one of the below):

  • IELTS:  6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
  • TOEFL iBT: 88 overall with 20-Listening, Writing, Reading, 22-Speaking.
  • PTE:  62 with minimum scores of 51 in each component.
