About Criminology - BA (hons) in University of Kent

On our Criminology degree you consider the criminal justice system alongside criminological and sociological theories. We give you the strong theoretical grounding, analytical expertise and communication skills needed to start a successful career in the criminal justice sector and elsewhere.

Explore key issues in criminology and criminal justice within a wider sociological and social policy context. Covering both traditional and cutting-edge areas of debate, our degree challenges you to offer new ideas on preventing crime, reducing injustice and helping society.

You are taught across disciplines including law, politics, psychology and social research. As you progress through your degree, you deepen your knowledge of crime and criminal justice and can explore drug culture, forensic psychology, youth and crime, the sociology of imprisonment, and terrorism and modern society.

Academic qualification equivalents

• The University considers students for undergraduate study who have completed Standard XII Higher Secondary School Certificates (Indian School Certificate/Intermediate Examination Certificate/Higher Secondary School Certificate /All India Senior School Certificate).

English language requirements 

• IELTS : 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in R&W; 5.5 in S&L)
• TOEFL IBT: 90 overall (with a minimum of 22 in R; 21 in W; 17 in L; 20 in S
• PTE: 62 overall with 60 in each subtest
