Our physical education and sport degree teaches you the principles of teaching and coaching, giving you the opportunity to flourish in your chosen specialism of athletics, gymnastics, swimming, dance or games.
The course is taught at Avery Hill Campus, home to our extensive sports facilities and where most of our student sports take place. Physical education placements form an integral part of this degree and our strong partnership with Charlton Athletic FC provides students with internship and employment opportunities.

Careers and placements
Will I have a work placement?
As part of your degree, you will have the opportunity to complete a sport-related work placement so you can put into practice the skills you will be developing during your time with us.
Our degree provides not only activity-based training but also vital theoretical courses. Here, you will discover the principles of teaching and coaching with courses related to sport policy, practice and development. You will also examine the scientific, psychological and sociological aspects of the subject.
What sort of careers do graduates pursue?
Dedicated courses in Year 1 and Year 3 prepare students to enhance their employability for PE and sport-related careers. Work placement opportunities are built into each year of the programme.
Graduates are equipped to work in a variety of roles within PE and Sport such as teaching (via a PGCE programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status), coaching, sport development and sports promotion.

Academic Entry Requirements
Undergraduate Degrees (Bachelor's)
For entry to our four-year extended degree programmes, you will need to have met the following:
- Standard XII with a minimum of 50%
- 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements
For standard entry to our Bachelor's programmes, you will need to have met the following:
- Standard XII with a minimum of 60%(70% for Law, Architecture)
- 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements
Some Bachelor's degrees allow advanced entry to year 2 or year 3, depending on your study history.
For advanced entry to Year 2 you will need to complete:
- Year 1 of a relevant degree with a minimum of 55%

You must show your English language skills to complete your course. Requirements vary by course and level, but the good news is, you don't have to wait to reach the required level before you apply.

For MPhil/PhD postgraduate research degrees, you need:
