Our mental health nursing degree offers pre-registration training within the field. You will gain specialist skills and knowledge that will develop your ability to empower patients and their families to make informed health decisions.

Your studies will be split between theoretical and practical learning with half of each year spent on a nursing placement. As a graduate from this course, you will be able to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a registered mental health nurse.

As a mental health nurse, you can work in a variety of setting including hospitals, community, prisons, forensic settings, rehabilitation, GP Practices and primary care and mental health settings across the acute and community sectors and worldwide. In order for you to start one of our programmes, you will need to meet both the academic and English language requirements. Below is a list of our standard entry requirements for most programmes, however, please note that some programmes may have a different entry requirement or require further assessment, such as a portfolio of work or interview. Academic Entry Requirements

Undergraduate Degrees (Bachelor's)

For entry to our four-year extended degree programmes, you will need to have met the following:

• Standard XII with a minimum of 50%
• 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

For standard entry to our Bachelor's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

• Standard XII with a minimum of 60%(70% for Law, Architecture)
• 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

Some Bachelor's degrees allow advanced entry to year 2 or year 3, depending on your study history.

For advanced entry to Year 2 you will need to complete:

• Year 1 of a relevant degree with a minimum of 55%

You must show your English language skills to complete your course. Requirements vary by course and level, but the good news is, you don't have to wait to reach the required level before you apply.

Here's what you need:

• IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

For some undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses, you need:

• IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

For MPhil/PhD postgraduate research degrees, you need:

• IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component

For many of our extended degree programmes, you will need:

• IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component
