Our extended degree in hospitality management is identical to the three-year degree but incorporates a foundation year to prepare you for the rest of your study. Designed to turn students into entrepreneurial, creative and strategic managers, this course aims to kick-start your career in international hospitality.
Among the topics you'll study are entrepreneurship and technology, operations management, event production and event marketing. You'll also have the chance to apply what you've learned on a UK or overseas-based internship.
You should graduate from this course with the key skills and experience needed for a successful career in hospitality management. Potential areas of employment include HR, revenue management, hospitality marketing and guest services.

Careers and placements
Will I have a work placement?
Work placements are optional, and you are responsible for arranging your placement with support from the university.
Previous students on the three-year course have secured placement year at Baxterstorey Limited (independent hospitality provider) and Goodmayes Griller Limited (restaurant).
How long is my placement?
Work placements are 9-12 months of full-time paid work. You take this between the second and third years of study.
What are the financial arrangements?
UK placement annual salaries range between £13,000-£18,000 pro rata. Some charity/voluntary work organisations offer travel costs and lunch expenses in lieu of a full salary.
What sort of careers do graduates pursue?
Graduates from this course have the same career opportunities as those applying to and graduating from our three-year BA Hons Hospitality Management course.
This degree was designed in consultation with employers and includes opportunities to gain significant industry experience through practical work placements. Graduates leave with skills in marketing, human resources, revenue management, technology and events management, making them highly employable in the rapidly growing hospitality sector.
Are internships available?
Internships are optional. Students must take internships for a minimum of six weeks full-time. Internships give you the opportunity to gain valuable employment experience and a Certificate in Professional Practice.
