About English Literature, BA Hons in University of Greenwich
Our definition of literature is inclusive, allowing you to engage with drama, film, graphic novels and visual art alongside your studies of novels and poetry. American, European and transnational literatures are all well represented on our curriculum.
Our course structure is flexible, allowing you to learn another language, study journalism, or develop a creative voice. You will also have the opportunity to undertake a work placement or dissertation.

Academic Entry Requirements
Undergraduate Degrees (Bachelor's)
For entry to our four-year extended degree programmes, you will need to have met the following:
- Standard XII with a minimum of 50%
- 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements
For standard entry to our Bachelor's programmes, you will need to have met the following:
- Standard XII with a minimum of 60%(70% for Law, Architecture)
- 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements
Some Bachelor's degrees allow advanced entry to year 2 or year 3, depending on your study history.
For advanced entry to Year 2 you will need to complete:
- Year 1 of a relevant degree with a minimum of 55%
You must show your English language skills to complete your course. Requirements vary by course and level, but the good news is, you don't have to wait to reach the required level before you apply.
Here's what you need:
- IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component
For some undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses, you need:
- IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component
For MPhil/PhD postgraduate research degrees, you need:
- IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component
For many of our extended degree programmes, you will need:
- IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component
