Our degree in business economics is designed to provide you with a solid grounding in business. You will be able to apply economic theories and data handling skills to analyse real-world economic and business problems. You will also be trained on how to analyse data using statistical software and databases employed across a variety of industries, giving you experience that's vital for employment and postgraduate study.
You can choose from a number of option modules in different areas of business and economics, enabling you to tailor the course to your areas of interest and career aspirations. Graduates pursue careers in private and public companies, government and non-governmental organisations.

Careers and placements
Will I have a work placement?
Work placements are optional, and you are responsible for arranging your placement with support from the university.
Previous students have secured placement year at Microsoft, FTI Consulting, Sandals Resort International, IBM and Northern Trust.
How long is my placement?
Work placements are 9-12 months of full-time paid work. You take this between the second and third years of study.
What are the financial arrangements?
UK placement annual salaries range between £13,000-£18,000 pro rata. Some charity/voluntary work organisations offer travel costs and lunch expenses in lieu of a full salary.
What sort of careers do graduates pursue?
Graduates from this course can work in the public or private sector as economists in policy advisory units or as financial analysts in finance and banking organisations. Other opportunities include posts in business services or business analysis units or management careers in international business.
Are internships available?
Internships are optional, and last for a minimum of six weeks. Gain a Certificate in Professional Practice and valuable employment experience before graduating.
