About Urban Planning Bsc (hons) in University of Gloucestershire
You’ll examine environmental, social and economic issues and the causes of urban and regional change and undertake projects that develop your ability to guide the development of planning schemes.
You’ll learn to respond to the changing needs of people, culture and society within a rapidly changing world. And develop your understanding of the factors and preconditions necessary for the successful delivery of planning within the built and natural environment. You’ll gain a rounded understanding of the factors and forces that are shaping the urban environment, the role that planning can play in developing and renewing urban areas, and reconciling competing and conflicting interests.
We’ll challenge you to enquire, debate and explore issues in design, planning, society, the environment and in relation to the supply and management of resources at a local and global scale. Our graduates aspire, enhance, develop and lead in design and planning professions, as well as community and environmental organisations and media careers.
Graduates from this course can go on to work in:
- local authority planning departments (development control, strategic planning, urban design, heritage and conservation)
- private sector planning consultancies
- public bodies: Environment Agency, National parks
- non-government organisations: RSPB,CPRE
- urban design consultancies
- transport planning
- urban regeneration organisations.
Entry Requirements
- Successful completion of Higher Secondary Certificate/Indian School Certificate/Standard XII with a minimum of 65% from CISCE and CBSE boards.
English language requirements
- IELTS :6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in any band
