Bsc Health Care Practice in University of Essex
Our BSc Health Care Practice is for you if you’ve already started learning with us; your prior courses and experiential learning will both be taken into account, and we will assess what additional learning you need to complete to qualify for our degree course.
As a flexible programme, you can arrange to study in the way that accommodates your prior learning and which will best suit your individual needs. To guide you in planning your studies to suit your role and career aspirations, we recommend you get in touch to arrange a “pathway discussion” with the Programme Lead, Vikki-Jo Scott, by emailing cpd@essex.ac.uk.
Our course provides you with a degree-level qualification and advances your knowledge of health care. You gain the knowledge and skills to help improve health and social care, and consequently patient care, and develop your confidence in professional practice.

Professional, statutory and regulatory bodies
We are committed to embedding the NHS Constitution Values (which are strongly reflected in our University values) into everything we do. They define the behaviours and expectations of all our staff and students underpinning the work we do in the university, clinical arena and other workplaces.
We understand that not all of our students and staff are employed within the NHS but these values uphold the underlying principles of excellent care as a standard, and as such we expect that anyone who cares for others will aspire to uphold these values.
For us, involving not only our students, but service users, experts by experience, carers and NHS/non NHS professionals in the creation and delivery of all programmes is vital.
Why we're great.
- Gain a degree-level qualification and advance your knowledge of health care
- As a flexible programme, you can arrange to study in the way that accommodates your prior learning and which will best suit your individual needs
- Benefit from the expertise of staff from a wide range of clinical and academic backgrounds

Specialist facilities
The School of Health and Social Care is located at two sites; in the Kimmy Eldridge building on the Colchester campus and in the Gateway Building on the Southend campus.
As one of our CPD students, you may be taking modules at either campus or online to suit your needs, which means that you can access facilities across both campuses as required.
Your future
Our programmes can form the basis for fast-track graduate conversion within our School into nursing (adult and mental health), occupational therapy, physiotherapy or speech and language therapy.
