During the two year Medical Sciences degree programme, you will learn how the systems of the body, from the cellular level upwards, work together to maintain normal function in health, together with how pathological processes disrupt these systems.

The School of Medicine understands the need to develop graduates who are familiar with digital technology and so this is embedded within the curriculum. A state-of-the-art 3D virtual dissection table accompanies digital physiology recording kits, together with a contemporary clinical skills suite and a dedicated anatomy resource centre containing detailed anatomical models. Our teaching and research laboratories are also equipped with the latest technologies in molecular genetics, cell biology, microbiology, haematology and many more.

Teaching within the School of Medicine is diverse, with sessions taught by doctors and clinicians, together with science staff. Students are taught in small, culturally diverse groups offering unparalleled access to staff and facilities.

FACILITIES

The University has invested in state-of-the-art facilities to ensure a high quality student learning experience. One of the many examples of technology-enhanced learning is the use of virtual dissection tables during anatomy sessions. The use of this virtual learning tool dramatically changes the approach of practical anatomy teaching sessions, providing students with a realistic experience of whole body dissection whilst at the same time avoiding many of the disadvantages of conventional methods. Our teaching and research laboratories are also equipped with the latest technologies in molecular genetics, cell biology, physiology, drug formulation development and many other medical science repertoire.

Students graduating from this course will be extremely well placed to apply as a graduate for clinical courses such as medicine, dentistry, physician associate studies, etc or to seek employment in academia or industry using their research skills.
