A nurse needs to be able to assess needs and plan, implement and evaluate care for people with acute or chronic illness – requiring communication skills and compassion as well as the range of specialist knowledge and nursing skills you will acquire from this degree.

Gain experience in medical and surgical nursing, care of older people, community nursing and nursing in an acute setting.

Successful completion of this course leads to the award of both an Honours degree and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a registered nurse, allowing you to practise as an adult nurse and in accordance with the NHS Constitution.

The course has been designed to enable you to register as an Adult Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and subsequently practise as a registered nurse who is able to:

• Apply critical thinking, reasoning, decision-making and judgment to provide safe and compassionate nursing care to adults in a range of settings that vary in complexity and urgency
• Work in multi-professional contexts, collaborating with health colleagues and other services to deliver high quality, evidence based, contemporary care to sick adults
• Demonstrate resourcefulness and creativity in providing nursing care that that reflects the values of the NHS and that makes a positive difference to the experience of adult patients and their families.

• 2 A level passes (minimum C and D)
• OR Successfully complete Foundation year (from a recognised university or HE institution)
• OR Successfully pass Year 12 with overall average marks of 55% or above
