About Financial Mathematics Bsc (hons) in Teesside University
Mathematics provides an essential basis for understanding modern finance. This course combines a grounding in maths concepts and methods with an opportunity to develop skills that can be applied to the analysis and modelling of financial markets. As a financial mathematics graduate, a range of career options are available to you - from banking and insurance, to teaching and local government.
The essentials of finance and underlying economic theory are studied alongside mathematics. Throughout the course emphasis is placed on problem solving and real-world applications.
A wide variety of career options are available to financial mathematics graduates in the financial services sector, including working as an actuary, in accountancy, banking, insurance, investment management and management consultancy. In the public sector specialists in maths and finance are employed in the civil service, local government and other organisations such as the NHS. The course also provides a sound basis for finance, economics, econometrics, logistics, mathematics, statistics and many other areas.
For entry onto Year 1:
India Standard XII – 65% minimum from all state boards.
Diploma from the State Board of Technical Education with 60% minimum (including MEng)
Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with 28 points or more will be considered for direct admission to Bachelor degree courses
Advanced entry to undergraduate:
You may be eligible to enter Year 2 of a degree programme if you have a three or four-year diploma
