About Msc Human Resource Management in Sheffield Hallam University
- Study at Sheffield Business School, which has over 30 years' experience in delivering Human Resource Management (HRM) masters qualifications.
- Gain an equivalent qualification to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Advanced Level Diploma.
- Become a student member of the CIPD and progress towards a professional level of membership on graduating.
The course is for graduates wanting a career in HRM, HR managers looking for career development or people seeking a career change. It aims to develop the specialised skills needed for effective higher-level people management and provides opportunities for applied learning. Participate on a full or part-time basis.
Live projects
The course offers a range of extra-curricular activities to help you apply your learning. There are practical project blocks and applied workshops which help in developing a range of HR skills and competencies.
To facilitate the development of your portfolio (when you are in employment) you will take part in a module which provides the framework for personal and professional skills development and which is assessed through a portfolio. The portfolio is designed to provide the framework for students to record their learning and development and can be used by
- part-time students to record evidence from the workplace of the development of skills and competencies linked to specific work-related activity during the postgraduate diploma stage;
- full-time students as the framework for developing a record of professional practice and work-related activities once they have commenced working in the field of HRM.
Networking opportunities
Our courses are designed and delivered by a highly experienced team of academics, who have extensive practice-based experience in HRM and consultancy. We expect you to play an active part in your own development. This can involve setting up learning contracts with tutors, managing your personal development, gaining the skills necessary for reflective learning and attending the guest lectures and professional events organised by the local branch of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
We also have a dynamic, student-led HR Network, which provides excellent opportunities for sharing experience with alumni, sponsors, business leaders, human resource managers and consultants. The network is supported by guest speakers from both professional bodies, alumni, employers which are often embedded into modules. This ensures that you gain access to non-academics and are able to see what roles, qualifications and career progression is available to you on graduation.
