The course is built around core technical modules in combination with project-based activities. This lays the foundation for a course of study that can be designed to meet specific needs, whether these are for a particular career or in academia. On the two-year work experience route, the course offers useful placement opportunities.

Work Placement

You will have the opportunity to go on a work placement for up to 12 months. You are supported in finding placements and can apply for a vacancy as you would a job. There are dedicated sessions to support you in CV writing, interview skills and job applications. The placement starts during the second year of your course and most are paid. Live projects

We emphasise learning through practical investigations and problem-solving, where you explore the issues that are typical of complex engineering systems through real world case studies. You complete a major project, supported by a project tutor, in an area of your choice allowing you to focus on a topic that can contribute to your career aims
