About Intercalated Oral Biology in Queen Mary University of London
Our intercalated BSc in Oral Biology gives students already taking a medical or dental degree the chance to achieve an additional degree in this specialist field in just one year.
This research-driven programme allows you to study oral biology in greater depth than is possible in the BDS or MBBS courses.
You'll acquire detailed knowledge of cell biology, and learn to interpret the principles of biochemistry, microbiology and molecular biology as applied to the oral cavity of humans and other mammals.
You'll also gain a firm understanding of the applications of biomaterials currently undergoing clinical trials, and will be strongly encouraged to develop an interest in and critical appraisal of current research practices in these subjects.
Throughout the year you'll develop the practical, analytical and computing skills necessary to carry out original research and, in your final semester, gain first-hand experience of conducting a hypothesis-driven research project in oral biology.
