Description
The School of Cardiovascular Medicine & Sciences offers a wide range of clinical and non-clinical postgraduate training opportunities:
·BHF MRes/PhD programme, duration 4 years*
·BHF Centre PhD with Göttingen Heart Centre, duration 3 years*
·Clinicians (PhD/MDRes), duration variable (Part-time available)
·PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences, duration 3 years (Part-time available)
·Interdisciplinary PhD, duration 3 years*
*BHF funded programmes are subject to annual BHF funding and call for applications.
Course study environment
Students work alongside staff researchers and are supervised by two members of academic staff. Each student has a dedicated Thesis Progression Committee that monitors students' progress and gives advice and support.
Postgraduate training
KCL offers a large number of training and skills development opportunities. Participation in the annual Postgraduate Research Symposium is compulsory for all students and provides an opportunity to improve science communication and presentation skills. Opportunities are available for postgraduate students to present their work at national and international scientific meetings. Our postgraduate students also have the opportunity to assist with teaching of undergraduates as demonstrators in practical classes or by leading tutorials.
Academic qualification equivalents
- A master's degree from a recognized institution in the discipline of interest
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS : 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill
- TOEFL : 92 overall with a minimum of 23 in writing and 20 in each of the other skills
- PTE : 62 overall with a minimum of 59 in each communicative skill
