About Sound Design - Bsc (hons) in Edinburgh Napier University
If you have a passion for sound, and would like to learn how to design it so that it is seamlessly integrated into media, products or environments, then this degree will help you develop an in-depth understanding and the practical skills to design and evaluate effective sound for listeners.
Both linear and interactive media are addressed as well as products and environments, with students studying sound design for fields such as animation, audio books, augmented/mixed reality, computing, food, film, radio, robotics, television, theatre, vehicles, video games and virtual reality. This course allows you to specialise in your chosen discipline, and then work towards creating an appropriate portfolio, whilst gaining valuable contacts who could help you during your transition from study to a professional career.
Studying Sound Design will allow you to collaborate with students on Acting, Digital Media, Film, Games Development and Television degrees. We also have an extensive range of online guest lectures from internationally recognised Sound Designers.
To apply for our bachelors courses, you should have completed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) with overall 60% or above in the Intermediate (10+2) (XII Standard) exam.
You should have 60% or higher in English in the Indian HSC Intermediate (10+2) (XII Standard) exam and have completed an undergraduate degree taught and examined in English within the past 2 years. If you graduated more than 2 years ago, we will consider your application on a case-by-case basis.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, other tests that are accepted by the university include TOEFL ‘At Home’ Test (same scores as of TOEFL iBT), IELTS Indicator (same scores as of TOEFL iBT), online Edinburgh Napier English Language Courses, Duolingo, and IELTS Academic tests taken more than two years but less than four years will be considered with the use of English language in work or education during that period playing a big role.
