About Law (graduate Entry) - LLB in Edinburgh Napier University

This direct entry route for law, allows you to complete the LLB in two years if you already have a degree

If you already have a degree you can complete the LLB in two years.

Fully accredited by the Law Society of Scotland, the LLB will enable you to apply for the Diploma in Legal Practice (also known as PEAT 1), the next step on the way to becoming a qualified solicitor or advocate in Scotland.

The LLB is also an excellent qualification if you wish to work in other professions, particularly those related to business and finance.

Course details

This course gives you a broad foundation in the law of Scotland. Over the course of two years, you'll study all the subjects specified by the Law Society of Scotland to enable you to seek qualification as a solicitor. In the second year you will also choose two from a range of option modules.

This degree will improve your communication, research, problem-solving and presentation skills.

Our entry requirements indicate the minimum qualifications with which we normally accept students. Competition for places varies from year to year and you aren't guaranteed a place if you meet the minimum qualifications.

To apply, you'll need an ordinary or honours undergraduate degree. 

IELTS (Academic)

6.0 overall, with no component below 5.5

TOEFL Internet Based Test

80 overall with a minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing

Pearson’s Test of Academic English

56 overall with a minimum of 51 in each component

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, other tests that are accepted by the university include TOEFL ‘At Home’ Test (same scores as of TOEFL iBT), IELTS Indicator (same scores as of TOEFL iBT), online Edinburgh Napier English Language Courses, Duolingo, and IELTS Academic tests taken more than two years but less than four years will be considered with the use of English language in work or education during that period playing a big role.
