It takes a mix of technical, analytical, managerial and practical skills to succeed as a civil engineer, which this BSc course can nurture.
Civil engineering is all about creating, improving and protecting the environment in which we live. This course supports a career in the design or construction of civil and structural engineering projects.

Course information
Your studies are underpinned by three core course themes, which are carefully balanced across all years of the course, centred on specific technical knowledge, construction practice and skills development through group project work.
We aim to provide an insight into the full breadth of design and construction disciplines that collaborate in the multidisciplinary construction industry. Full-time students also have the potential to benefit from the practical experience brought to the course by part-time students already working in industry.
Throughout the three years of study, we will cover the principles and practice of civil engineering within a global context, including structural analysis and design, materials, geotechnics, highways and surveying, construction and project management, hydraulics and water engineering.
Career prospects
As a successful graduate of this course you will meet the full educational requirements to be able to work as an Incorporated Engineer in the construction industry, usually for a contractor, design consultant or local authority.
However, if you aspire to become a Chartered Engineer you will need some additional study after this degree course such as studying our MSc in Civil Engineering.
Coventry University is committed to preparing you for your future career and giving you a competitive edge in the graduate job market. The University's Careers and Employability team provide a wide range of support services to help you plan and prepare for your career.
