About Accounting And Finance Bsc (hons) in City University London
A key advantage of successfully completing this course is the flexibility that comes from gaining a wide breadth of knowledge across both disciplines of accounting and finance, with the opportunity to choose from a number of optional modules including Principles of Taxation, Audit and Assurance, Business Strategy or Portfolio Management.
As well as simulation and practical exercises, such as preparing financial statements or assessing financial investment options, you will have the opportunity to apply theory to real-life scenarios that you might encounter on a day-to-day basis as a professional. In the past, students have analysed financial statements from supermarket giants’ Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons; they’ve also looked at the competencies and skills of easyJet in comparison to its competitors to try to ascertain what has contributed to its financial success.
As an Accounting and Finance student at Coventry Business School, you’ll also have access to our Trading Floor, which is one of the largest of its kind in Europe. As well as being integrated into some of your modules, you will also have the opportunity to study towards professional certifications, such as the Bloomberg Market Concepts Certificate, in your own time using the Bloomberg terminals located in the Trading Floor (subject to availability). Such certifications could help develop skills that could be useful in any potential future career.
