The Sport, Physical Education and Health degree will allow you to gain in-depth academic and practical knowledge of physical education and youth sport, and appreciate its issues and operational contexts. Analysis of the health and wellbeing agenda within physical education, will equip you with the skills and knowledge that will enable you to establish and influence the maintenance of healthy lifestyles in others. This will be achieved in a challenging but progressive way, in which the curriculum becomes more focused and specialised across the three years of the programme.
In addition to the comprehensive theoretical and practical academic framework, you will be encouraged to build a portfolio of UKCC coaching qualifications, work placement learning and experiences during your time at University. The Sport, Physical Education and Health degree aims to:
1. Develop intellectual knowledge, understanding and application of the academic disciplines that underpin physical education, sport, health and wellbeing
2. Evaluate the needs of participants relevant to their age, ability and levels of physical attainment in sport and physical activity
3. Investigate the concepts and issues that inform physical education, sport, health and wellbeing in the UK and abroad
4. Prepare you for effective employment or future study by developing graduate attributes including problem solving, inter-personal skills, global citizenship (diversity & sustainability), flexibility and adaptability (life-long learning), effective communication and creativity and innovation.
