Course Overview
This degree in International Business Management will enable you to pursue a career in the arena of international business management and gain a competitive edge in today's global job market.
As businesses continue to operate across borders, job market demand is high for graduates who have attained a multidisciplinary international business education. The degree offers you a unique combination of international perspectives on business and management, cross-cultural management skills and foreign language competencies.
Employers value graduates who have gained global business perspectives. The value of a graduate's global mindset resides in the ability to demonstrate a range of competencies that equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills to work in an increasingly global business environment, work with multicultural teams, be interculturally aware and possess foreign language skills.
You will develop your knowledge and skills in discipline areas such as management, marketing, human resources, strategy, finance, entrepreneurship and cross-cultural management. In addition to this, languages are a core element throughout the whole programme and students must study one foreign language (Spanish / French / Mandarin Chinese)
Employability & Careers
Most of our students secure employment six months after graduation. Career prospects are excellent with local, national and international opportunities in all areas of business management and commerce.
Successful graduates have found positions at supervisory/management level in the private and public sector. The global perspective of the programme allows our former students to find a range of managerial and professional careers in international recruiting, business and management consultancy, business development, human resources, international marketing, financial management and international trading to name a few.
Work Placement and Employability:
Our programmes aim to enhance student employability in various ways. In the second year of the degree, students undertake a compulsory work placement module (15 days work placement) as this is considered an essential requirement for all students at the Cardiff School of Management.
Further, upon successful completion of year two, for those students who wish to enhance their employability, there is the additional opportunity to take a sandwich year undertaking a year long placement in industry between years two and three. The placement is accredited at the final year of the degree with 20 credits. The year long placement can either be taken abroad or in a company based in the UK.
The Cardiff School of Management has a dedicated work placement team to help you finding a placement. Careers Service also offers support to students to find work placements and internships. The university's MetHub is an online platform that allows organisations to advertise a wide range of opportunities to our students and graduates such as graduate vacancies, paid internships, placements and work experience, volunteering, international opportunities and part time roles.
