About Sports Therapy And Rehabilitation in Canterbury Christ Church University
Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation offers a blend of theory and practice as you explore the sport and health-related issues which can impact sport performance.
Through studying the fundamental aspects of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, alongside undertaking extensive practical work, students will develop key clinical skills to ensure they are prepared for the emerging opportunities in this field.
Why Sports therapy and Recreation?
This programme will develop the key academic and practical knowledge graduates will require to enter this contemporary and emerging field of work where the graduate opportunities are extensive.
You will be joining a successful School with a longstanding reputation for delivering sport-related courses in Kent. As well as being able to utilise the existing provisions as part of the sport-related offer at Christ Church, from 2020 students will benefit from state-of-the-art laboratories in a new multi-million pound facility currently being built on campus. The new facility will also house the newly established Kent and Medway Medical School.
What will i study?
The course will provide extensive practical experience to complement detailed academic knowledge. Initially students will explore functional anatomy and physiology, followed by concepts applied to issues aligned with the diagnosis and treatment of patients with injury, and complications with disease. Placement work will allow for students to provide real service to the community, and ensure that graduates are suitably skilled for work in this field.

For the roles below, higher study can be undertaken at MSc, MRes or PhD.
- Sport Rehabilitator/ therapist in both sport and clinical settings
- Strength and conditioning /Fitness and wellbeing advisory work
- Health screening/ prevention roles (e.g. fall prevention, pre obesity/diabetic populations)
Academic qualification equivalents:
- Successful completion of standard 12 th with 60% average and one further year of study
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS : 6.0, with no less than 6.0 in Writing and no less than 5.5 in Reading, Speaking and Listening.
- TOEFL : Total minimum score of 80, with at least 19 in reading, writing and listening.
- PTE : overall score of 50 and no PTE communicative skills score below 42
