When you graduate, you'll be highly competitive in the employment market because of your extensive theoretical knowledge, combined with a high level of practical skills.
After graduation you’ll be in a strong position to pursue a career in the following areas, research scientist, lab technician, scientific writer, medical and healthcare regulations, patent law, data scientist, clinical trials or medical sales.
We recommend that you use your first degree to further your studies in medical science or choose a patient focused discipline such as Physician Associate (two-year Masters degree) or complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and enter teaching. For those wanting to a career in research, you can apply for direct entry into PhD study or an MSc/MRES.
For students who complete their first year of BSc Medical Science to an exceptional high standard, there may be the opportunity to transfer to the Year 1 of MBChB Medicine. It must be noted that this is a highly competitive route and there is limited availability. As a life science degree, those with a 2:1 or above could apply for Graduate Entry Medicine programmes.
Academic qualification equivalents
- HSC/Standard 12 with an overall average of 50% from the West Bengal exam board
- HSC/Standard 12 with an overall average of 55% from the following exam boards: CBSE, Delhi, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu
- HSC/Standard 12 with an overall average of 60% with at least 40% in a minimum of 5 subjects from any other exam board
- a recognised foundation qualification
English language requirements
If English is not your first language you'll need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.
- Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
- ETS TOEFL iBT with 80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking
- Pearson PTE with 57 overall and a minimum of 51 in all components.
