Fascinated by diet and human nutrition? With our full-time degree in Applied Nutritional Science, you’ll explore the chemistry of food and develop practical skills in our Chelmsford SuperLabs. We’ve designed our course with consultants from the food industry to ensure you’re ready for a career in food science, clinical nutrition or public health.

We work with employers to make sure you graduate with the knowledge, skills and abilities they need. They help us review what we teach and how we teach it – and they offer hands-on, practical opportunities to learn through work-based projects, internships or placements.
Our Applied Nutritional Science degree has been designed with consultants from the food industry and UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN) and the Association for Nutrition (AfN). Professional skills are embedded throughout the degree, ensuring that graduates are highly employable and have a portfolio of work experience to showcase at interviews.
The skills and knowledge you'll acquire on this course will be well regarded not just in the nutrition and healthcare sectors, but many others too. Graduates of nutrition-based degrees are in demand in various roles across the health and food sector from supermarkets to research labs. Roles include but are not limited to, nutritionist, food scientist, food safety advisor, food technologist, nutrition and food labeling coordinator wellbeing facilitator, quality specialist or community education officer.
Academic qualification equivalents
- HSC/Standard 12 with an overall average of 50% from the West Bengal exam board
- HSC/Standard 12 with an overall average of 55% from the following exam boards: CBSE, Delhi, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu
- HSC/Standard 12 with an overall average of 60% with at least 40% in a minimum of 5 subjects from any other exam board
- a recognised foundation qualification
English language requirements
If English is not your first language you'll need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.
- Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
- ETS TOEFL iBT with 80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking
- Pearson PTE with 57 overall and a minimum of 51 in all components.
