About Equine And Veterinary Bioscience (with Integrated Year In Industry) in Aberystwyth University

Our Equine Science and Veterinary Bioscience at Aberystwyth University is engineered to give you the head start in the ever so competitive career market. Equine and Veterinary Biosciences means studying the biology of a range of animal species in such a way as to provide you with the underpinning veterinary medicine and scientific theory and examples using the horse (including some equine specific modules) are used where possible. This includes how nutrition, welfare, anatomy and physiology as well as understanding diseases, their diagnosis and control. It does not provide recognised training for those wishing to practise as a veterinary surgeon, but may provide graduates with a suitable pathway to a veterinary medicine degree programme.

Your work experience must be relevant to this degree and the year is assessed which will count towards your degree grade.
- Students will have to organise their work experience under the guidance of our Director for Employability. There is no guarantee that the work experience will be paid. (If you cannot obtain a placement, then you must transfer to its sister course BSc Equine & Veterinary Biosciences D334).
- During your year in work experience, you will pay a discounted tuition fee of which the information can be found here.

Studying Equine science, you will develop specialist skills including:
Ability to evaluate the physiological needs of a range of species in health and disease, with a special emphasis on the horse
Academic qualification equivalents:
- We generally accept minimum 75% in year XII Std. of the Centeral Board of Secondary Education and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, in addition to the state boards of education in India.
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS : 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component
- TOEFL : 88 with minimum component scores: Reading 18, Listening 17, Speaking 20, Writing 17.
- PTE : 55 with minimum scores of 51 in each component
