About Diploma In Beauty Therapy in Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec)
Summary
This programme is suitable for learners who have prior learning or experience as a beauty therapist and will equip them with the skills and knowledge to successfully provide advanced beauty services and manage the operations of a client base or small beauty therapy business.
Students will spend time applying advanced practical skills in Wintec’s Urban Spa and will also undertake work based learning at a beauty therapy clinic, working alongside beauty therapists in industry.
Learning will include advanced; skin care, body therapy, hair removal, and nutrition. These services include learning about the use of electrical therapy, electrolysis, body wraps and full body massage.
Alongside these practical skills students will be developing their advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics and biology relevant to these beauty therapy services.
During their time at Wintec students will gain the necessary work ready skills to begin a successful career in the beauty therapy industry, and will also achieve the City and Guilds International qualification, Diploma in Beauty Therapy Level 3.

Academic qualification equivalents
- Achieved an overall average of 65% in the Higher Secondary School Examination or AllāIndia Senior School Certificate with a minimum of 60% in English;
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS : Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5
- TOEFL : Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18)
- PTE : score of 50 with no band score lower than 42
New Zealand Living Expenses
