This course aims to guide the candidate nurse through a study journey to advance their knowledge, skills, and competencies in the face of the challenges posed by a multicultural healthcare service.
The material covers developmental, physical, physiological, and spiritual aspects of human health, as well as tools for coping with illness and difficult behaviour.
The course consists of three required components:
Work placement within a multidisciplinary team in various clinical settings.
Successful candidates will be eligible to apply for registration as first-level nurses with the Maltese Council of Nurses and Midwives upon completion of this programme.
Target Audience
This course is targeted at:
• Nurses who are in possession of an MQF Level 4 (or comparable as per MQRIC) in Nursing, who need to upgrade their knowledge, skills, and competences in order to apply for registration with the Maltese Council of Nurses and Midwives as first level nurses.
• Non-EU trained nurses who are in possession of a minimum MQF Level 5 (or comparable as per MQRIC) in Nursing, seeking a bridging course to enable them to apply for registration with the Maltese Council of Nurses and Midwives as first level nurses.

How you’ll be assessed
This is a part-time programme and will typically take 15 months to complete. The programme comprises a total of 10 modules. The method of assessment is assignment-based.
The course comprises:
- 6 lectures per module;
- 3-hour lectures (evening);
- 12 hours of online content per module, comprising synchronous online discussions, tutorials and/or videos.
