As the population continues to age, senior care is becoming one of the most rapidly expanding sectors of the healthcare industry.

The Master of Science in Elderly Care Management combines management, policy, and legal studies with social and behavioural sciences.

This course offers participants aspiring to or already engaged in the administration or management of senior care services the opportunity to further develop the technical, leadership, and management skills necessary to ensure high-quality care services.

As a current or aspiring manager of care services, you will have the opportunity to advance your theoretical and practical knowledge in accordance with the most recent international evidence-based practises. You will examine the ethical considerations that must be taken into account when making decisions that affect the well-being of service users, as well as good governance and quality management in the delivery of effective care services.

This programme focuses on Maltese laws pertaining to the sector. However, it also presents an opportunity to investigate various healthcare models.

The target group covers, but is not limited to:

  • care home managers and directors;
  • personnel involved in the administration of care to the elderly;
  • educators;
  • welfare officers;
  • human resources and operations managers involved in the administration of care for the elderly; middle management (such as. senior care workers etc.);

  • allied health professionals, such as physiotherapists, dieticians etc.

The objective of the programme is to prepare you for middle to senior-level positions in the elderly care industry, such as manager/director of an elderly care home or chief executive officer, chief financial officer, or human resources manager of an elderly care home.

It is intended to improve employment prospects and career advancement in areas including, but not limited to:

  • community/social services agencies for the elderly;
  • religious organisations which provide care for the elderly;
  • healthcare and long-term care agencies and institutions (state and private).
