About Occupational Therapy (m.sc.) in Trinity College Dublin
The Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy, Trinity College, is aimed at developing occupational therapists' research knowledge and skills in order to integrate research as an integral and explicit element of professional practice. It specifically aims to develop therapist's academic knowledge and critical thinking skills in the area of occupational therapy theory, evidence-based practice and current approaches to research in occupational therapy practice.
The course is designed to suit therapists who wish to study part-time while continuing to work in professional practice. It is offered on a two year part-time basis, where students attend on pre-allocated times for a combination of tutorials, seminars, lectures and self-directed learning activities. The first year of the course includes five modules:
- Advancing Occupational Therapy Theory;
- Evidence based practice;
- Qualitative Research Methods in Occupational Therapy;
- Quantiative Research Methods in Occupational Therapy; and
- Research Management and Pragmatics.
The second year of the course is mainly devoted to completion of a dissertation.
Academic qualification equivalents
- Hold at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country.
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS:(academic version) 6.5 (no individual band below 6)
- TOEFL : Paper-based 570 (with a TWE score of 4.5) Computer-based 230 (with a score of 4.5 in essay) Internet-based 90 (with a written score of 21)
- PTE: Academic a minimum score of 63 (with no Communication Skills section score below 59)
