About Built Environment (common Entry) – Bsc (honours) in Limerick Institute of Technology
What is the programme about?
This is a one year common entry stage to the four honours degree programmes in the Built Environment. Successful completion of this Common Entry Year leads to admission to Stage 2 of the following programmes, subject to availability of places:
The Common Entry Year was developed in order to advance the Transitions Agenda being pursued in Irish Higher Education, of better transition from second level to third level education
Who is the programme suited to?
This Common Entry Year is suited to individuals who are looking for a career in the Construction Industry but are not sure of the specialism they wish to pursue

Entry Requirement
Leaving Certificate: A minimum of 2 H5 & 4 O6/H7 grades in six Leaving Certificate subjects, including Mathematics and English or Irish.
Two of these subjects must include Mathematics and a Language (Irish or English). In practice, entry levels will be above the minimum and points will be calculated from the six best subjects from one sitting. Mature students (23 years of age on 1st January preceding application) can apply through the CAO for entry to stage 1. Mature students who wish to study Stage 1 part time by ACCS (Accumulation of Credits and Certification of Subjects) must also apply through the CAO.
