Water technology is one of the core areas of environmental technology and therefore plays a key role in our future. Pollution, climate change and the growing world population are causing increasing water management challenges such as water supply. The importance of water as a vital resource and industrial raw material is becoming increasingly important, as is wastewater treatment. The master's program in “Water Technology” includes these topics, but also combating climate change, taking flood protection, technologies such as seawater desalination and other aspects such as sustainability and energy into account. The topics range from "resource-saving sewerage in developing countries", "clarification of industrial waste water" to "water as an energy source".

In the master's program "Water Technology" you will get to know the global field of water technology and develop solutions for various environmental problems. Another focus is on water management and process simulation of water management issues. You will learn about the relevant laws and develop your intercultural competence.
Master “Water Technology” with included internship (120 CPs)
You can choose the master's program with an integrated internship after the first year of study.
Master “Water Technology” with preliminary course (120 CPs)
Graduates from non-technical degree programs must start with a preparatory seminar. You must pass this in order to be admitted to the regular master's program. The duration of a preparatory seminar is one semester.

In parallel to your studies, you can work up to 20 hours a week.
Elective
In the elective subject "Operations Management" you work together with a company of your choice and can gain practical experience. In addition, you may have the opportunity to write your master's thesis in the same company.
internship
If students with an engineering background are interested in an internship, they can complete an internship after the first year of study with an extension of the study period to 2 years and 120 CP.

Due to your international qualification in the field of water technology, you have the opportunity to work both with internationally active German water suppliers, as well as with international companies in the water industry and research institutions in this area. Successful completion of the master's degree entitles you to study for a doctorate.
