At St. Lawrence College you can earn your Ontario College Diploma in the Esthetician program in a condensed 40 weeks! We’re one of the only colleges in Canada to offer this condensed program format that gets you into the career of your dreams.
Our in-house training salon, Dynamic Designs, provides opportunities to practice new skills with clients from the community. In addition to practical skills training and experience, the program includes extensive coverage of business and interpersonal skills. This includes codes of conduct, business management, customer service, sales training, and professionalism.
Keeping with the current trends of the industry we offer you the latest treatments and techniques in both basic and advanced and medical Esthetics.
The beauty industry continues to grow each year, expanding opportunities for a career in the esthetics profession. From setting up a home-based business to traveling the seas in cruise ship spas, esthetics students and graduates are presented with more options than ever before.
Highlights
An opportunity to travel abroad is available. Each year a group of students embark on a trip to Europe that is coordinated through the program. There is no obligation to participate, but for students who think travel may become a part of their career goals, this provides a safe and educational introduction to international travel.
Our training salon, Dynamic Designs, provides you with the valuable practical experience to perform Esthetic and Skin Therapy services on clients from the general public. Work placements give you the opportunity to acquire both hands-on experience and possible future employment. Many of our students gain part-time employment in the Esthetics field as soon as they have completed their first placement experience.
Employment options are endless as our graduates choose to work and find success in any of the following areas:
- Estheticians and Skin Therapists in day or destination spas, salons, health centres or cruise ships
- Product trainers and educators or sales representatives for manufacturers and distributors of esthetic products
- Sales, purchasing, marketing and retail in cosmetic firms
- Managers of Esthetics and Skin Therapy centres
- Teachers or instructors in the industry
- Estheticians working alongside Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons
- Self-employment or on a consultation basis
Academic qualification equivalents
- Class 12 passed students from a recognized board including CBSE, CISCE or a state board
- All India Senior School Certificate or Higher Secondary Certificate/Standard 12 or Indian School Certificate (Year 12) as recognized qualifications
- Minimum 65% prerequisite average for six Grade 12U or 12M level courses including Grade 12 English at the U level
- Grade 11 Math at the C, U or M level - (Grade 12 MDM4U preferred)
English language requirements (one of the below):
- ELTS test results required with a minimum score of 6.0 overall, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each section, for entry to diploma and certificate programs; minimum score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in each section, for entry to degree, graduate certificate and fast-track programs.
- PTE: Pearson Test of English Language scores of 55 or higher for entrance to diploma and certificate programs; minimum score of 60 for entry to degree, graduate certificate and fast-track programs.
