About Sports & Recreation Administration in Lambton College
This program is ideally suited for those interested in working in fast-paced and ever-changing environments, have a passion to provide leadership, and a desire to work in the sport and recreation industry.
Graduates are prepared to pursue a variety of career opportunities including team and league management, marketing and promotion, national and provincial sports organizations, recreation facilities programming, event management, athletic departments and many more.
Through a unique integration of theoretical application and practical learning experience, our graduates have developed highly sought-after skills in communication, project management, leadership, teamwork, time management, adaptability, information technology, research, analytics, and many more! Students are engaged throughout the program working with community partners on real-time projects. This includes opportunities to gain practical experience with our industry partners such as the OHL's Sarnia Sting Hockey Club.
Graduates of the two-year Sports & Recreation Administration program will have acquired over 150 hours of industry-related experience and an expanded network of industry professionals. Students interested in furthering their studies may graduate from the Sports & Recreation Management program, and will have acquired in excess of 300 hours of industry-related experience.
Lambton College's Sports & Recreation programs are designed to provide students with opportunities to personalize their education and practical experiences and provide flexible pathways to meet their educational goals. Students can elect to graduate from the Sports & Recreation Administration program or continue their studies with the Sports & Recreation Management program. Those who graduate from the Sports & Recreation Management program and meet academic requirements, are eligible to continue their education through our university pathway agreements. In fact, students can complete a bachelor's degree in Sport Management at the University of Windsor through our block transfer agreement which provides our graduates with two years of advanced academic standing.
Employment Opportunities
For over 20 years, our graduates have pursued successful careers in the public, private, and commercial sectors of the sport and recreation industry as facility and program managers, sports marketing and sales representatives, athletic directors, league administrators, special event managers, fitness and recreation program leaders, equipment and sporting goods representatives, health promoters, educators, and entrepreneurs.
Admission Requirements
- O.S.S.D. or equivalent with:
- Six level 4 courses from the U or M stream and an overall average of 70% minimum including:
- Grade 12 English U (minimum grade of 65% required).
- Grade 12 Mathematics (C, U, or M level)
- Grade 12 Biology U SBI4U (minimum combined average of 70% for chemistry and biology).
- Grade 12 Chemistry U SCH4U (minimum combined average of 70% for chemistry and biology).
English language requirements
- Proof of English Proficiency Test Scores.
- IELTS : 6.0
- TOEFL iBT: 69
