About Bachelor Of Education (uvic) in College of the Rockies
Held in partnership with the University of Victoria, our Teacher Education program leads to a Bachelor of Education degree, preparing you to teach students in kindergarten to grade 7 in BC and Alberta. Your courses have been designed to be engaging, relevant and practical and will give you a wide-ranging introduction to all the subjects you will be required to teach.
For your first year, you will enroll at College of the Rockies in first-year university-level courses. For the remaining three years, you will be enrolled in University of Victoria courses but receive your instruction, in the classroom, at the Cranbrook campus. We recommend you consult with a University of Victoria Education Advisor when selecting courses.
This is an excellent time to be entering the teaching field. Legislation throughout Canada and the United States to reduce class size combined with early retirement packages now being offered are expected to create widespread teacher shortages throughout North America.
In fact, teacher shortages are now occurring in many areas of North America and Canadian teacher education graduates are currently being actively recruited for overseas teaching positions. Many regions in the U.S. and other countries are offering large signing bonuses and moving expense packages in an attempt to attract new teachers.
