About Associate Of Arts Degree - Global Stewardship in Capilano University
The Associate of Arts Degree in Global Stewardship is a unique program in British Columbia. Students have diverse career goals: local community development, journalism, teaching, politics, nursing and business as well as international development (NGOs and IGOs). But what they all share is the passion, compassion and commitment to make a positive difference in the world.
Through an innovative curriculum combining classroom study and engaged service learning, students gain the knowledge and skills to become change makers. Graduating students have many options available: some apply for an internship to gain further experience in the NGO sector; others complete Bachelor’s Degrees in areas such as geography, political studies, international relations, anthropology, international development or social work. Many students opt to stay and complete a degree at Capilano University, such as the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills using, when appropriate, IT technology.
- Establish effective strategies to meet personal and professional goals.
- Understand and apply ethical reasoning to their decision making.
- Measure both qualitatively and quantitatively their impact on their communities while in the program, and critique their capacity to be a catalyst for change in their local and global communities in the future.
- Work effectively, both on their own and in a group context, including with alumni of the program.
- Demonstrate a breadth of knowledge about local and/or international development from a variety of disciplines.
- Solve problems and/or muster arguments using imagination, critical thinking, appropriate research, and nuanced judgment.
Academic qualification equivalents
- Completion of All India or State Board HSC (XII): 60% or higher in relevant subjects.
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no single score below 6
- TOEFL: TOEFL score of IBT 83 ,paper-delivered test 560
- PTE: Required minimum mark 56
