About the course
The study of the human body is a personally rewarding and increasingly important field in today’s world. Health and Movement studies take a practical, hands-on approach. This degree combines courses in health, movement and science, and a major in community health or sport, to help you arrive at a complete, real-world understanding of your field.
The Bachelor of Health and Movement (Sport Stream) is also a pathway for the Bachelor of Education (Physical & Health Education).
Degree Specialisation
Sport specialisation
If your future involves working within the sports industry but you’re not sure where, then you should specialise in sport. Focusing on planning, applying and practicing exercises in a variety of education and community environments, this specialisation offers students the flexibility to enter a range of industries.
Health Promotion specialisation
Do you have a passion for helping others? Are you ready to share your love of health and movement with the wider community? Well if you’re looking to make a real difference in someone else’s life, then specialising in health promotion is perfect for you. Combining health promotion principles with specific exercise programs, students will receive the hands on training they need to forge a rewarding career within the community health industry. After graduation, students can even choose to further their studies in public health, education or social work.
Course streams
The Bachelor of Health & Movement is divided into three core study areas plus one specialisation.
- The Health (Core) Stream provides students with the necessary experience to apply health related knowledge, skills and concepts within the broader context of the social determinants of health and health promotion.
- The Movement (Core) Stream provides experiences aimed to allow for the acquisition of movement skills, concepts and strategies that enable students to teach a range of physical activities confidently and competently.
- The Science (Core) Stream introduces students to the relevant scientific principles in order to grasp the underlying foundations of human movement and analyse movement and health from performance and utilitarian/functional perspectives.
Degree Specialisation
- The Health Promotion (Major) Stream provides students with the knowledge and skills in health promotion principles and models, and their application in the real world.
- The Sport (Major) Stream provides an understanding on the application of sociological and community approaches to sport, games and recreation.

- Academic IELTS overall score of at least 6.5, with a minimum 6.0 in each of the reading, writing, listening and speaking subtests

English Language Requirements
You can meet the English language requirements through any of the ways listed below if
- You are from a non-English speaking background or
- You haven’t completed your final four years of secondary schooling at an institution that teaches entirely in English.
- Time limits may apply to the evidence you provide to demonstrate your proficiency.
i. Tertiary study (VET and higher education)
You need satisfactory completion of study in an English medium educational institution equivalent to one year full time study at Australian VET diploma level or higher or at undergraduate award level or higher.
ii. English language course
You require satisfactory completion of a preparatory course in English at the appropriate level. ACPE has a formal articulation agreement with Navitas English. Students who complete Academic English 3 with a 65% overall score and no skill lower than 65% are able to gain entry into ACPE courses.
iii. English Test
Students whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate English proficiency by one of the following means:
- Academic IELTS overall score of at least 6.5, with a minimum 6.0 in each of the reading, writing, listening and speaking subtests.
- TOEFL iBT with a minimum of 85 overall and a minimum of 22 for writing. TOEFL paper based test scores are not accepted.
